TL;DR: Stay in Ask, describe the task, or type / and pick a playbook. Ballet finds the workflow, asks for missing details, runs it, and leads with the result. A one-time lookup is answered in chat and does not create a playbook.
Members, and editors who are in Ask mode on Home.
You can also type / in the composer, pick the playbook, and add any extra instructions.
If those same inputs were already run recently, Ballet shows that earlier result instead of running again. Ask it to run again when you want a fresh result.
The composer placeholder for members is Describe what you need help with…
Use Ask when you need an answer once, not a saved workflow. For example:
Ballet checks the connected app or the file you uploaded, then answers in the chat. It can show a chart or a preview when that helps.
If the work will happen again, needs a schedule or an approval, or spans several apps, Ballet suggests a playbook and switches you to Build.
Ballet names the app and asks you to have a workspace admin connect it. Send the same request again after it is connected.
Those belong in Build, or to an editor.
Install Ballet Assist and open the side panel on any tab. It is the same Ask composer, using your Studio sign-in.
When Slack is connected for the workspace, mention @Ballet in a channel the bot can see, or message the app directly. The reply uses that person’s existing Ask Ballet conversation.
